John Sands
JOHN'S STORY DRUMMER / PERCUSSIONIST
John Sands is an award-winning professional percussionist/drummer. He attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he studied with Tony Tedesco, and then privately with the legendary Alan Dawson. John has also taught classes at Berklee College of Music in Boston and has decades of experience offering private lessons.
Sands has lent his talents to over 300 studio recordings, performing on more than twenty albums across several genres, including popular rock, country, alternative/indie, folk, jazz, fusion, and blues. His cross-genre experience includes touring and recording with numerous bands—including multi-Grammy-award winners Aimee Mann (indie/alternative rock) and Lori Mckenna (country). Other prominent artists include Lisa Marie Presley, Liz Phair, Lisa Loeb, and Merrie Amsterburg.
Sands’ live performance experience includes everything from intimate venues to national performances, including the Grammys, Academy Awards/Oscars, and all of the late-night shows, including the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O’Brien.
